First Annual Salvation Army Senior Fair Held in Edmond

September 27, 2012

This October, senior citizens in Oklahoma City will have access to a new senior program.  The First Annual Salvation Army Senior Program will be held on October 10 to provide senior citizens with information that can help them improve their quality of life.

The Salvation Army Senior Program aims to improve the life of each senior individual by enhancing their self-worth, dignity, and inherent values.  Senior citizens are often not aware of the programs that are specifically available for them, especially if they are limited to activities within their nursing homes or medical care facilities. With the senior program offered by the Salvation Army, senior citizens will have the chance to try out new ideas, explore various lifestyle options, and learn of ways to enhance their lives.

There will be more than 30 participating organizations that will be sharing information with senior citizens. Some of the topics will include housing for senior citizens, transportation options, continuing education, communications, home health care, and recreation.

The event will be on October 10, 2012 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Warr Acres Community Center located at 4301 N. Ann Arbor. It will be free to attend with lunch served for a donation.
