Renaissance Style Adding a Touch of Class to Your Home

Renaissance style pulls from the 14th, 15th, and 16th centuries and incorporates elaborate and extravagant design elements by incorporating draperies, furniture, walls, and ceilings. Creative artwork isn’t just limited to tapestries and framed-paintings – it branches out into murals on walls and ceilings as well. Renaissance style indeed adds more flair in any home interior, and even if you aren’t ready to redecorate completely, adding hints of this classical era throughout your home will immediately add grace and style.

If you’re interested in adding some Renaissance style to your home interior, here are several features to consider:

  • Patterned Floors – Decorative floors are very integral in Renaissance style, and they can be composed of any material, including marble, wood tiles, or brick. Baroque floors add detail to a room with beautiful patterns.
  • Elaborate Ceilings – Classical homes often incorporate exposed beams on their ceilings to add more style to the place. Try adding wood beams and painting them a color that is complimentary to your ceiling and walls or leave them natural.  Painting patterns on the ceiling is also a great way to add design depth.
  • Silky Drapes – Long, elaborate curtains are a quintessential Renaissance design element, making them a must.  Silky drapes with decorative cords are perfect for your classical style and can also be functional.
  • Decorative Chandeliers – Instead of choosing a simple chandelier for your dining room or living room, choose a more decorative one to add detail to the place. Decorative chandeliers often have more sources of light and are supported with intricate patterns or designs on the base. A gold or silver chandelier is common in classical homes.
  • Extravagant Furniture – Add more classical style to your living room with an opulent sofa and chairs. Choose silky materials for your furniture and use decorative pillows and intricate patterns.
  • Grand Fireplace – Create a lovely centerpiece in your living room with a grand fireplace.
