Prizes Given to OKC Students for Perfect Attendance
The beginning of the new school year is fast approaching, and teachers and school administrators are in high gear preparing the school and classrooms for their students.

However, one problem that school administrators face is that very few students go to school the first day of class.  Only about one in four kids show up for the first day of school, while the remainder remain in their homes. While classes don’t usually begin with hard lessons on the first day of class, teachers say that it is one of the most important days of the school year.  Therefore, students need to be there.

In order to encourage fewer absences during the first day of class, Oklahoma City Public Schools is launching a campaign that will award prizes to students who are loyal to their classes and achieve perfect attendance.  Kids with perfect attendance will be qualified to receive prizes such as a free bike from Schelege’s and headphones from the Oklahoma City Thunder.

The start of the next school year will be on Monday, August 5, so for students to put themselves in the running for winning some of the great prizes offered by the program, they need to be sure they are present when the bell rings!
