Healthy Lifestyle in OKC Encouraged Through Free Health Class

Being healthy can lead to a lot of benefits.  It reduces your risk of developing diseases such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, and cancer. When your body is healthy, you also have a fit and more attractive body, which consequently helps boost your self-confidence. Lastly, being healthy can lead to stronger relationships because you have more energy to do more things with your loved-ones.

Maintaining good health is important. That is why the Oklahoma City-County Health Department is offering a free Total Wellness program that will aid residents in their journey to adopt healthier lifestyles by eating a more balanced diet and exercising.  The free health classes will be held one hour every week for 12 weeks, and the next set of classes will start on August 6.

During the health classes, participants will set goals of losing 5 percent of their body weight and being active for 2.5 hours each week. It is a gradual process that focuses on achievable and maintainable goals. This will make it easier for each participant and will entice them to continue their new lifestyle even after the classes end.

Classes during the past several years have seen impressive results. About 650 people have graduated each year with improvements in their weight and overall health.
