OK Regional Food Bank Reaches 500 Million Pound Food Goal

Every day, there are people all over the country who go hungry because they have nothing to eat. Children represent a large portion of that group, and for many, the meal they receive at school is their only opportunity to eat during the day.  So many children go hungry and suffer from malnourishment because their parents lack the financial ability to feed them properly.

That is why the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma continues to provide worthwhile programs to the underprivileged to help stamp out hunger in the state.  For many years, the Regional Food Bank has worked to distribute millions of pounds of food to those in need. According to the food bank, the first 100 million pounds of food distribution took about 20 years to achieve.  Now, the food bank is proud to announce that they have distributed 500 million pounds of food to people throughout western Oklahoma.

Those 500 million pounds of food have been a blessing to the thousands of mouths that have been fed by the outreach programs.  The food bank aims to reach another 500 million pounds of food distribution in the next 10 years.
