Junior League of Oklahoma City and the OKC Barons to Promote Literacy

Learning to read and write well is an important achievement for every child. It is one of the most valuable assets to a child’s development as they grow in maturity and advance in knowledge. Unfortunately, not all children are blessed with the opportunity to enhance their literacy.

To help promote literacy among children in Oklahoma City, the Junior League of Oklahoma City, in recent partnership with the Oklahoma City Barons, will be launching a book drive for children across the city. Both organizations will start accepting books as donations to be distributed in various areas of the city.

The Junior League of Oklahoma City is a nonprofit organization that aims to encourage volunteer participation in programs especially purposed for city improvement. The organization especially hopes to attract women; training and teaching them for effective leadership and charitable actions.

Those who wish to donate books towards this effort, go to the headquarters of Junior League of Oklahoma City, 1001 N.W. Grand Blvd. You may also contact Kristen Ferate at 843-5668.
