Functional Add-ons to Kitchen Cabinets

Kitchen cabinetry plays an important role in the functionality and aesthetics of a kitchen. When you are planning to remodel your kitchen, the kitchen cabinets are always something you should consider addressing if they haven’t been updated in a while. Updating your cabinets does not just refer to the outer appearance, however. There are lots of internal additions that can help you maximize the space you have in your cupboards. Some of them even have adjustable positioning and can move in and out as needed to reach everything inside.

Here are a few examples of cabinet add-ons:

  1. Wine Racks and Organizers – If your cupboards are jam-packed, make sure that you keep your wine and other glass bottles in a designated spot that will prevent them from falling and breaking. Bottle organizers can be installed inside or underneath your cabinets in order to keep bottles in their own sections and safeguarded them from falling.
  2. Cabinet Lighting – Installing under-cabinet lighting improves the function and aesthetic of your kitchen. It can create a beautiful glow emanating from under your cabinets that creates a nice ambience. If you cook a lot, the extra cabinet lighting is also very helpful for seeing better.
  3. Knife and Opener Rack – Knives should always be separate from different kitchen supplies because they may cause injury when you are looking for other things. Keeping your different knives and openers on one rack can save you time when preparing food. It also saves space because you don’t have to fill your cabinet shelves with utensils. You can install a knife rack on one side of your kitchen counters, where knives will remain out of the reach of small children, yet will still be easily accessible.
  4. Vertical or Horizontal Pullouts – Cabinet pullouts are supported by ball-bearing drawer guides and create more storage inside cabinets for spices, small kitchen utensils, and other items. This addition creates more depth to your storage layout and enables less reaching and bending when looking for things.
