Oklahoma Cities Provide Rain Barrelsfor Water Conservation

The sweltering days of the summer often require the community to put forward a concerted effort to conserve more water. One way to conserve water at home is through the use of rain barrels.

Rain barrels can store rainwater to be used in the home for watering the plants, flushing the toilet, cleaning the house or washing the car. There are a variety of sizes available that store a considerable amount of rainwater.

These rain barrels are now available at a lower cost thanks to the partnership by the City of Oklahoma City, Yukon, Midwest City and the Central Oklahoma Storm Water Alliance (COSWA). These cities and organization are encouraging the community to conserve water with the use of rain barrels installed on their properties.

In addition, the partnership also aims to reduce pollution in local streams and rivers through water conservation and utilizing rainwater.

Rain barrels offered are available and ordered online. These costs start at $61 with a handling fee of $2.50. Orders can be picked up at 1035 Industrial Drive in Yukon from July 18th at 12 pm to July 19th at 1pm. Online order confirmation is necessary during pick up.
