Free Trees Offered to Edmond Residents

Trees are some of the most gorgeous of nature’s creations and can make any place look beautiful and refreshing. If you wish to plant a tree within your property or community, you can now get one for free sponsored by Edmond Electric and the Edmond Urban Forestry Department.

According to a study by the Edmond Urban Forestry Department, trees can help save energy costs by up to $160 per year. They can also help clean the air while also providing additional benefits to their surroundings. Through the offering of these free trees to Edmond Electric’s customers, households may stand to save a significant amount of money on energy costs. This can also encourage more energy-efficient efforts in the community.

The trees provided will be available for free on a first-come, first-served basis. Residents will need to check first if they have an available planting space and if these locations are suitable for the type of trees provided. Tree species available are Sawtooth Oak, Chinquapin Oak, Red Maple, Redbud and Red Oak.

Residents who wish to avail themselves of this offer can come at J.L. Mitch Park this coming Saturday, December 13th from 8am to 12pm. A copy of your electric bill is required to receive a tree.
