UCO and City of Edmond Plan to Build New Performing Arts Center

Entertainment options in a city increase the quality of life for residents and attract more visitors and tourists to the area. One of the best ways to encourage more entertainment is to have a performing arts center.

The City of Edmond and the University of Central Oklahoma are planning to build a new performing arts center in the downtown area of Edmond. The new center will be a partnership between the two organizations and will cater to a number of events, including major national conventions, professional orchestra and opera productions, festivals, exhibits. and musical events.

Talks about the new performing arts center have been happening for six years, and this year, council members are moving forward with the development of the center. The construction of the facility will be part of the city’s two-year development plan.

The performing arts center will be located somewhere within the University Village area. UCO’s Architect David Stapleton indicates that the building will range from 68,000 to 75,000 square feet with 1,200 to 1,500 seats.
