How to Clean and Maintain Your Home on a Budget

Cleaning the house is just an ordinary task that we do. But, there are times when you might be spending too much money when it comes to home cleaning. Cleaning products can be expensive, but because cleaning isn’t something that can be neglected, people think they have no other option.  Fortunately, however, there ARE options!

Below are some helpful tips you can follow to reduce your cleaning expenses:

  • Spend a few minutes tidying up every day. A mere five to ten minutes can go a long way in creating a cleaner home. When you keep your house tidy, it stays cleaner longer, so you don’t have to deep clean as often.
  • Use reusable and washable rags and dusters. Using disposable ones will put you in a cycle of constantly having to buy more every time you run out. Reusable and washable cleaning rags, mops, and dusters last much longer and also reduce environmental waste.
  • Make use of kitchen ingredients. Why buy expensive and artificial cleaners when you can just make your own? A quick search online will reveal a plethora of uses of baking soda and vinegar, for example. Making your own cleaning products using natural materials saves you money and is also less harmful to your family and the environment.
  • Practice the philosophy of “clean as you go.” Each time you work in the kitchen or use the bathroom, clean it up after you are done. That way, no stains or residue will build up. Cleaning as you go will also save you more time and energy when you start your general house cleaning.
  • Wipe away spills immediately. Whenever you see spills or dirt, clean them up immediately. Do not let them stay and cause stains or damage to your materials. Plus, it is easier to clean them with water and soap when they are fresh spills.
  • Store your cleaning tools and materials properly. Though you use them only for cleaning, they deserve to be treated properly – that is if you do not want to replace or repair them often. Storing your tools properly will lengthen their service.
  • Let everyone help. Why hire a cleaning team when you have your own cleaning team at home? Have everyone in the house help clean and designate cleaning areas for each person to be responsible for. With everyone working together, everything gets done in less time.
