Inexpensive Design Ideas for Refreshing Your Bedroom

Tired of looking at your same bedroom over and over again? Do you want to change the look of your room, but don’t have that bulky budget to do so? Don’t fret! There are certain changes you can make to your bedroom to make it feel new without spending a lot of money.

Here are some design ideas:

  • Change the lighting. This can affect drastic changes to your nighttime setting. A change of light means a change of perspective. Replace your old lighting with something different like a row of lights or a unique lamp.
  • Hang a tapestry. Who says tapestries are only for dining and living rooms? Hanging a tapestry above your bed or on a wall where it can be a focal point is a great way to add color and design.
  • Reposition your bed. If you have the space to do it, shake things up and reposition your bed. Changing the position of your bed will give you a different line of vision when you go to bed at night and wake up every morning. It offers new perspective.
  • Rearrange your display. For example, your books can be stacked differently like on a hanging shelf or in a quirky arrangement. Add some unique decor or book ends to your shelves.
  • Add new artwork. Create a wall full of inspiring and creative works of art. Or, if you already have a wall of artwork, rearrange the pieces of swap them out with pieces from different parts of the house.
  • Remove excess furniture. Your bedroom shouldn’t be crowded with lots of cabinets or tables. Just incorporate the ones you will actually use. Not only will it look less crowded in your room, but it will give you more breathing space (and maybe even force you to remove clutter).
  • Clean, clean, clean. Nothing beats the freshness of a thoroughly clean and organized room. Take the time to clean your room at least once or twice a week. Sweep, dust, vacuum, and mop.
  • Change your bedding. Just like cleaning, you need to do this often. You spend a lot of time laying on your bedding, and it naturally collects dust and absorbs oils. No matter how clean and lovely your room is, if your bedding is dirty, you won’t feel luxurious.
  • Add a rug. Warm your feet whenever you wake up with a soft rug beside your bed. Rugs are functional and beautiful at the same time.
