Things You Should Remove from Your Bedroom

After a tiring day at work, sometimes all you want to do is flop onto your bed and go to sleep. However, if you have a lot of distractions going on inside our bedroom, how can you except to rest properly?

Though you may not realize it, there are things inside your bedroom that can take away from your full relaxation. There are diversions that can keep you active instead of going to sleep, which defeats the purpose of your bedroom being a place of rest.

So, what is distracting you inside your bedroom? Here are some examples:

  • TV – Having a TV inside the bedroom can distract you from getting enough sleep. Instead of heading to sleep, you may want to watch TV first. Oftentimes, this leads to several hours of watching before you realize that you have only a few hours left to sleep.
  • Piles of papers for work – Never mix your work space with your sleep space. This will increase your stress because it will be constantly visible, reminding you of all the things you need to do. Leave your work in the office, so you can fully relax inside your bedroom.
  • Magazines – Though you may want to read before you go to sleep, having a pile of magazines and books next to your bed can divert your mind to reading instead of sleeping. Reading activates the mind and can keep you up later than you should be.
  • Your pet – Ideally, they should be kept in a separate space overnight. Just like your kids having their own room, your pets should also have a bed of their own. That way, you won’t be awoken every time they move around or whine to go potty.
  • Electronics – This means no iPads, no mobile phone, no radios, etc. that may distract you from sleeping. If you really need your phone in the room for emergencies, just put it as far away from where you sleep as possible, so you don’t start wasting time on it.
