Two Fire Stations Set for Construction in Oklahoma City

October 14, 2016

Easy access to fire stations is crucial to safety in a community. When there is a fire station nearby, firefighters can immediately respond to homes and buildings on fire. This minimizes damage, the spreading of fire, and injuries to people in the area.

In Oklahoma City, the construction of two new fire stations will soon be underway. Station 21 and Station 23 will experience new construction near their current locations to be rebuilt for official operations and improvements. Expected completion date for both stations is August 23, 2017.

Station 21 was built in 1951. It is located at 3000 SW 29 Street. Station 23 was built in 1975 and is located at 2900 S. Eastern. Both stations are said to be identical and will have their own fire apparatus bays. Overall, the two stations will total 8,848 square feet.

The majority of the funds for building the two fire stations will come from the 2007 bond. Remaining expenses will be taken from the sales tax fund.
